Filling in the blanks...
[info]carriesback
To clarify, I'm just putting up this post to have everyone who reads to be aware of what happened between the last two posts prior to this one. On April 13, 2009 I had a masectomy, that I'm sure most know by now. Since having the surgery I am feeling fine, great in fact and just doing a lot of relaxing. I ended up coming home the day after surgery, reason being they wouldn't give me coffee before 8am (I'm sure they could've)so my mother was in town so I called for her to come gather me up and take me home. :)
I did have pain, took the hydrocodone the doctor had given me for pain, so all is/was well. I had a drain tube in slightly lower than my scar and when it was down to only draining less than 50cc in a day, then it could come out. That ended up being Sunday after surgery. Which was nice, didn't make me stay home at all. On Saturday Pamela had a Mary Kay party that I went to, so it's not anything that you cannot travel with, which is nice :)
Once that was done, the only thing that was left was to start chemotherapy. I had my first treatment on May 4, 2009 and Deb explained everything to me as we went along, just so I would know what they are doing. I was fine, nothing really affected me except when they give the anti-nausea Emend, it gives me a headache. So the three days I do take that, I have to take ibuprofen for slight headaches. Then on the day after chemo, I have to go have the shot of Neulasta, which in above post I explain....it's for boosting of cell reproduction...and it kicks my ass. Literally. Taking a shower is exhausting. I sit on the couch and sleep on and off all day long. But, I can eat and I keep it down, so all is well and good. I did end up with a fever on Monday night, so I took some ibuprofen. Also told the doctor about this when I went for my bloodwork on Wednesday. He said if it happens again or if the fever goes higher than 101, to let them know. Gotcha! I know my mouth felt awful the next day. Very sore....gums hurt. Other than that....
Today was chemo treatment #2. In this two weeks of treatment, I should start to lose my hair. My hair used to be me....it is cut now. I would figure it should've started to fall out by now, maybe I'm wrong, but I am still crossing my fingers and praying it won't fall out. hee hee. I'd love to be able to beat that. At least with keeping it short, it'll be easier to take when it actually does fall out.
Not much else to type. Will keep everyone posted about how I'm feeling. I actually feel quite normal, just incapable of being myself most of the time. I'm not a person who wants everyone to feel sorry for me, I'm the strong one. Still strong, still standing.......and guess what? I'm not ready to stop my adventure of what we call LIFE just yet......I have many places I want to see and next on the list is Ireland. That's four years away, but saving and saving cuz I AM going...come hell or high water :)

Enjoy!

Keeping everyone up-to-date

Thought I would post something since it's been a while. I'm doing well, recovering very good also, started chemotherapy already and it is going well. I was only out of commission for 3 days, which is great considering I could be laid up for a whole week! I have another chemo session tomorrow afternoon, so I should be alright until Tuesday when they give me my shot of Neulasta (a medicine that helps to boost and build your white cell production). That is what kicks my butt every time. Eating healthy and making sure I rest are two of the things that are keeping me going.
I have to admit, I am actually missing going to work every day. Even though I have bitched and moaned about the people I work with, not dealing with them every day makes me feel like I am out of the loop. I am home every day, trying to find something to keep myself occupied (which is hard to do, I have a short attention span on anything other than tv or computer LOL). I have been going to work at least once every two weeks, just to keep them on their toes. I don't want anyone thinking that I am not enjoying my time off just a LITTLE bit :) ha ha
Last week I also went and finally got myself a prosthetic breast. I had to have something to even myself out! LOL! It just seems odd to be doing all of this still, as if I was in a trance the last three months and BOOM all of a sudden I'm sans breast and soon to be without hair. I'm still crossing my fingers that it won't fall out, but we'll see in the next few weeks. So far it's already been cut short, to the shoulders and thinned out, but that was by MY choice. It'll be easier to deal with shorter, especially if I do begin to shed :) I also went and ordered a wig. I figured I might as well, since it is free from a group called "Circle of Love" here in the area. I just am very impatient about finishing the chemo and just being back to normal--as if there was ever a normal for me :)

Anyhow, just wanted to update.......feel free to respond........

RHYMES........where's the updates??????? I need some JDM....lol snagging photos just isn't cutting it....although he does make a pretty damn good slideshow on here whilst I sit on the couch on my bad days staring over at him while I am awake :D

Home from the hospital
[info]carriesback
Hi everyone. Just wanted to give all of you an update. I am home from the hospital, had surgery on Monday. I was home Tuesday morning, couldn't take not sleeping :) I was in a tiny bit of pain, still am, but am dealing with that through the help of some good drugs and rest. I had a doctors appt on Wed to have my dressing changed, and he told me while I was there that preliminary findings from the pathologist show that they haven't found anything in my lymph nodes!!! YAY! Not really sure what will happen from here, I see my chemo doctor on the 21 or 22, so I'll find out more then. He should have the overall results by that time. I'm hoping to hear that I won't have to do ANY chemo, but that seems too easy, so suffice to say, I would rather him say it'll be a short regimen of chemo. Fabulous!

Have a great day!!!!!!!

Carrie :)

~~Tired~~
[info]carriesback

Hi everyone! I have this blog here to vent, so here I go...

I've been a member of the JDM fandom for almost a year. I AM 40 years old and absolutely LOVE this man to death! Right now, as some of you know, I am going through a rough patch in my life. Diagnosed with breast cancer two months ago and am currently getting ready for a mastectomy on Monday. I am going to be starting chemotherapy roughly a few weeks after that. My outlet on my computer is popping into JDMfans.com and coming here to LiveJournal to find out what is new and wonderful in the world of Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I do NOT want Jenn to shut down JDMfans and I most certainly do NOT want rhymeswithmagic to stop posting here. I do not understand why it is so damn important to other fansites who posts what and when. As long as there is new news about Jeffrey out there, what is the dilemma? In reading some of the stuff that has been posted, I am a bit concerned that Jeffrey AND his mother will NOT want anything to do with any of the fansites that are currently out there because of the bickering and squabbling that are going on amongst the existing sites. Who wants that? Not I. If you think by making others leave that then and only then will they visit your site, you are wrong. Once they make a decision to not visit any sites, most celebrities don't bother.

Me myself, I would rather have more JDM information out there. There's only so much though. It doesn't matter who posts it first, as long as it gets out there among the rest of us who want to know.

Fighting about the fandom doesn't solve anything. It creates more tension and less fans who visit. It sure the hell doesn't create more fans!!!

My part said, I'm just someone who wants to be in the know where Jeffrey is concerned. Can't we all just get along?

More thoughts...
[info]carriesback
I know my blogs are unimportant on here, but to me they get stuff out of my head so I am not thinking about them constantly. So, with that being said, I am about to just put some stuff down that is unimportant to most, but very important to me.
My thoughts in the last two days are taking me to different places. I am NOT looking forward to what the next god-knows-how-many-months-to-come will bring for me. I'm fine with losing a breast to cancer, unsure of the hair loss. That's where I have the problem. I love my hair, have grown it out since 1986 and rarely cut it. It's never been shorter than my shoulders and I'm about to undergo chemo soon and will have to think about the day that it starts to fall out.
Alot of things are running through my head, two things are keeping me from having a complete meltdown. I know this may sound strange to most people, but meeting Mr. Morgan is one of those things. My daughter is the second. Not that I'm about to die from this, that is doubtful, but I keep my hopes alive with thoughts of each of them. I'm in unchartered territory with the whole cancer thing and I'm frightened as hell as to what will come next. I want two things to happen, I want my daughter to strive for what she wants and know that she can do better than what she is doing right now. I want this most of all. I also want the chance to meet Mr. Morgan.
When your hopes and dreams begin to collide with reality, what will come next?

No good news here everyone. Found out I have breast cancer today. All my surgeon said was that removal of the breast, part of the lymph nodes under the right armpit and chemo was basically what is coming. I have an appt with a cancer specialist on Friday to find out what is next on the agenda or to let me know the steps I have to take from here. I already have a few doctors names that I got from my cousins (my aunt died from breast cancer--she stopped doing her chemo) so I just have to find one and stick with that one. I'm really not sure what to expect. I'm in no way worried, I actually think I'm more worried about the possibility of losing my hair than anything else! I know, I shouldn't be, but I am.
Right now I could use some cheer.....that rumor about Jeff having a son, that kind of stuff is just wrong, in every sense of the word. I hope it's not true, especially since that would mean he's missed out on his childs life for this much time, but glad if it is that he HAS a son :) Just strange that it comes out right after Watchmen. Like she didn't know his star was rising.....does anyone even remember him dating her? 4 years ago? I've never even heard of her......

Anyhow, will keep updating as I find out news.

Seems like there is a shortage of JDM news at the moment. I'm hoping that he's taking a well-deserved break from it all! Relaxation is key, considering his line of work. I have to say this, this last batch of SPOOKY_WINDOWs icons are to die for!! This icon I absolutely love and some pictures that I have found on the web are my screensaver and desktop bg now! I hadn't found one that I truly liked enough to put up, but I have found it now :)
Tomorrow is the BIG day. I found out good or bad news. Keeping it realistic for now, I'm hopeful it's nothing, but not worrying beforehand either.
Been having the JDM thoughts going on again. I watched a youtube vid of JDM signing autographs before his appearance on GMA. Such a sweetheart!

Just giving everyone a heads up on surgery. Everything went well today, I'm supposed to be sore, but I am not, thank god! I'll know the results by Wednesday, which is a good thing. Now is the time for me to worry, as I haven't at all before now. *crossin my fingers and toes* Thanks for all the well wishes and SPOOKY--thanks for the icons!!! They're gorgeous!!!

Where I've Been...
[info]carriesback
I know that I haven't been around much to post recently but I figured there is enough going on in the world of JDM without me wreaking havoc on all! I found a lump on my breast a few weeks ago and have been busy going through the process of having it checked out. I am in the process of scheduling surgery for a biopsy to be taken and I am very nervous of what they will find. Meanwhile I am patiently awaiting the opening of Watchmen in the US and hoping that scheduling my surgery with not coincide with the movie!! LOL! Hope all is well in everyone elses world and surely as eager as I am to see JDM on the big screen once again.

How funny was the ROVE show? I loved it, he used my tag.....but yeah, I don't love myself in public.....LOL

Keeping everyone informed....

Access Hollywood
[info]carriesback

I was just wondering if anyone else watched Access tonight---Jan 27, 2009......as there was a story about Katherine Heigl's a pet lover! It's here:

Katherine Heigl is seen by millions every week portraying Izzie Stevens on “Grey’s Anatomy,” but Access Hollywood got a look at a lesser-seen side of the actress when we visited her as she worked to help give some dogs loving homes.

Katherine and her mother, Nancy Heigl, teamed up with Pup My Ride, an animal rescue program from the Best Friends Animal Society, to rescue a host of beautiful, healthy dogs from shelter life.

“Over 600 dogs have been saved and adopted,” Katherine told Access Hollywood.

“Up in Utah and Arizona and some of these states around California, they have waiting lists for small dogs, people wanting to adopt and here we have an overwhelming number in the shelters,” Katherine said.

As a result, Best Friends drives the dogs, which would otherwise be put down, to new, out-of-state homes.

“Today is the transport day,” Katherine smiled during Access’ visit. “I think [the dogs] are either excited or terrified. I’m not sure.”

But, before getting in the van, the eager little pups had some doggie business to attend to.

“We make them go to the bathroom,” Katherine noted. “It’s a 12-hour [drive]. There’s no pulling over.”

Animal lover Katherine, a serial doggie-adopter, hinted she was tempted by the animals’ little faces on moving day. When asked how many dogs she’s taken home over the years, Katherine revealed she has six!

“I think my husband’s ready to kill me,” Katherine said of her husband of one year, Josh Kelley. “But you know what? The last one was his idea.”

Josh was compelled to take the sixth one on when he and Katherine found a puppy in a trashcan in Mexico.

“Someone had literally thrown him out, and he was probably at the time, three or four weeks old,” she said. “He was just this teeny tiny, fit-in-the-palm-of-my-hand, and Josh said, ‘I think we should take this one home,’ and I said, ‘OK! I’m dying for a puppy.’ But now I cam blame him for it too. I’ll be like, ‘This puppy was your idea, you get up with him at 7!’”

Neither Katherine or her mom, Nancy, were afraid to get their hands dirty when Access visited the women as they helped pack up the pups.

“I don’t have to go into work until late,” Katherine said, referring to her day job playing Izzie Stevens on “Grey’s Anatomy. “I’m gonna have to shower though, before I go back to my scrubs.”

On the set, the “Grey’s Anatomy” star is entrenched in a challenging storyline. Her character Izzie’s boyfriend Denny – who died at the end of the show’s second season – has returned from the grave, seemingly as a ghost, and only Izzie can see and hear him.

“I am… struggling to make sense of it,” Katherine said of the latest twists and turns for Izzie. “It’s very hard to relate to.

“Who is she talking to?” Katherine continued, referring to Izzie’s conversations with Denny. “Does she know he’s dead? You know… It’s hard to make the material as honest as I’d like it to be and that’s my biggest challenge right now… If he’s a hallucination then something’s wrong with her and she’s a doctor and should know that, right? Unless she’s in massive denial, which is kind of what I’ve been trying to play, and if he’s a ghost, then we’re doing a whole other show.”

EXTREME boredom!
[info]carriesback

I am soooooooooo bored tonight. Wish there was something I could do or someone to talk to online. That would at least keep me busy for a little while :) I've already done all my email, gone through my alerts and my surfing. I guess I just wait for Gossip Girl to come on now. Then it's off to sleep for me. Hell, maybe I'll just go to POGO and play some games. I'm Mistress__Carrie on there :) Oh yeah, kudos to funnyghost and thanks for letting me steal this icon. LOVE IT and him :)

Taken--Jan 30, 2009

Just for the record, I have now watched the movie Taken. Very good movie, great plot, good action.....now anyone with teenage daughters will never let their children out of the country!! Enjoy!

*stressing*
[info]carriesback
I have to admit, I have had a few trying days here in reality. My landlord found out he has cancer, badly this time, as he had a spot on his lung a few years ago and underwent chemo at that time. They thought they had found all of it and taken care of it completely, but this Oct he went back for a checkup and found out he has it in his groin and lymph nodes. He has been going to chemo once again, but this time the doctors are telling him to get his affairs in order and be prepared for the worse, maybe 6 months to a year. This man has two young teenage boys for whom he cares and he recently decided to retire from his job because of the physical strain of it (he is a guidance counselor for a correctional facility) so with this being done, he had now sold my residence. The change in ownership won't go into effect until sometime in February, so until the new owner takes possession, I really can say I don't have a landlord. I'm really unsure of what will happen when the new owner takes possession, but I am worried to death that he will evict myself and the girl that lives in the apartment above. I can imagine he would gut this place and redo the whole place. I wish I could see into the future sometimes, as I would like to know AHEAD of time if I should start looking for a new apartment. So now everyone knows of my impending dooooooooom.....Ugh, I don't want to think about this!
Well, on a lighter note....work sucks, plenty of OT all around, but I hate working weekends. I just hate the people (or most of them) that I have to work with/around all day. Two of them (twins actually) on most days do nothing but bitch and moan about everything that is wrong....whether it's about life or work. Then there is Miss Perfect. The one-who-does-no-wrong. Screws up constantly, but constantly gets away with it. Why? My thoughts.....hmmmmmmmm....five other women work in that department and no one else has boobs that big. Sorry, it's the truth. It makes all the difference in the world, believe it or not. Especially in the factory industry. If you have a low IQ and cannot speak proper english but have boobs bigger than a DD, you qualify for job security. Doesn't matter if you can do your job or not! I'm a beautiful person who gets treated like crap by most every man I have ever been with. My job sucks and I absolutely hate it-it's lame and unrewarding-- and I am in the process of getting out of factory work with a little hard work and studying. I'm going to do some tech college and get into the computer field. My life is borderline crazy most of the time......which is why I chose livejournal as my chosen place to vent. Whether it be to *DROOL* over Jeffrey Dean Morgan ( I wanna have that man's babies!!! ) or to do my movie lists or to just vent over insignificant subject matter. So I hope everyone on my friends list can handle and deal with my ramblings.....

thanks for listening :)

Time off!

It's been a relaxing two weeks for me. I've worked 4 days out of 14 and I am thankful for that time off from work. Those people are so bitchy around the holidays, I find it terribly hard to be there around them while working. I know that I shouldn't be that way, but they seem to get on my nerves most days. Few people actually do that to me. I cannot wait for the bid to get posted in the other department I used to work in, then maybe I can get back to some sense of normalcy. ~Not looking forward to Monday~ but am waiting for bids to be posted when I go back.

Hope everyone out there is well, have a happy happy 3rd day of January. Look around, take it in, hopefully it will be a better year than last :)

Well everyone, I finally finished reading Watchmen. Only took me a week, but a week where I couldn't sit and just read! I am now impatiently awaiting the movie, to see how much like the book the movie turns out to be. I love all the trailers I have seen up to now, but to think that I have to wait another 3 months for the movie, well, it makes me anxious as anything. To those that are JDM fans and you haven't read the book, I suggest you do so, NOW. It definitely makes you wonder, if nothing else. I myself am not a fan of graphic novels, but this one actually kept me interested throughout the whole thing. (I am more a Stephen King fan) To think this was written more than 12 years ago, what kind of a mindset was our world in at that point in time.

As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being.
